Western Microprobe

The electronic microprobe makes it possible the spot chemical analysis (on the µm scale) of major and minor elements of prepared samples (a flat surface is required).

In addition, the instrument allows detailed chemical mapping (quantitative or qualitative) of samples.

The applications are numerous (characterization of gems, minerals, metals), and our services have been used by many French and foreign researchers (geologists, physicians, biologists). We also respond to requests for expertise from industrialists, particularly in the metallurgical field.

The department is equipped with a Cameca SX 100 microprobe.
