The Ocean as a key factor in climate change issues

The Ocean as a key factor in climate change issues

Understanding the processes at work in the context of climate change is a real challenge for human societies, for today, but also for the future. Because the ocean is a key actor in climate regulation: it stores, transports heat and absorbs a very large quantity of CO2. Scientists are working to understand the interactions between the ocean and climate by studying the physical, chemical and biological processes at work. They try to answer the following questions: How does the ocean influence climate? To what extent do current climate changes have an impact on the ocean, coasts, ecosystems and human societies? Nowadays, the majority of researchers working in marine science are involved, directly or indirectly, in climate-related issues.
