UME-ENSTAParisTech
The FGO group at the Unité de Mécanique from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées (ENSTA-ParisTech) works on regional circulation of the Mediterranean Sea and various processes in coastal oceanography. The collaboration between the UME-ENSTA and the LMD allows complementary approaches (theoretical, experimental and modeling) on coastal processes (see above). As far as regional circulation of the Mediterranean Sea is concerned, we aim to characterize the seasonal and interannual variations and the mesoscale and sub-mesoscale circulations in this basin. More recently, in the context of the large collaborative SiMED project with other partners, we show our interest on the characterization of the dynamics and climate on the marine biogeochemistry and on the possible retroactions which are to take into account to increase the realism of the dynamical processes or to validate it. Since ten years, numerical studies with high resolution numerical models (Béranger et al. 2004, 2005, 2009 ; Alhammoud et al. 2005; Bozec et al. 2006; Beuvier et al. 2010) in several national (ARGOL, SALTO2, EGYPT, LIVINGSTONE) or european (MFSTEP) projects have been conducted. Presently, we are involved in national SiMED and MORCE-MED projects (Lebeaupin Brossier et al., 2010), which can be considered as preliminary phases useful for the large international HyMex and MerMex programs and for the national MISTRAL program on the Mediterranean.
