phytoplankton%20dynamics%2C%20realistic%20daily%20nutrient%20inputs%20simulating%20various%20densities%20of%20C%20fornicata%20were%20added%20to%20six%20enclosures%20during%20three%20weeks.%20The%20increase%20in%20fertilization%20intensity%20influenced%20the%20phytoplankton%20biomass.%20A%20succession%20from%20Chaetoceros%3B%20spp.%20to%20Pseudo-nitzschia%20spp.%20and%20Leptocylindrus%20danicus%20was%20observed%20in%20all%20enclosures%2C%20but%20the%20dynamics%20of%20successions%20were%20different.%20Pseudo-nitzschia%20spp.%20was%20favored%20in%20the%20three%20more%20fertilized%20enclosures%2C%20while%20Chuetoceros%20spp.%20persisted%20longer%20in%20less%20enriched%20enclosures.%20Despite%20an%20apparent%20nitrogen%20limitation%2C%20the%20quantum%20efficiency%20of%20PSII%20%28F%28v%29%5C%2FF%28m%29%29%20was%20high%20%28%3E0.5%29%20and%20stable%20in%20all%20enclosures.%20The%20maximal%20photosynthetic%20capacity%20%28P%28B%29max%29%20was%20also%20invariable%20and%20oscillated%20around%20an%20average%20value%20of%202.23%20mg%20C%20%28mg%20Chl%20a%29%28-1%29%20h%28-1%29.%20The%20stability%20of%20Fv%5C%2FFm%20and%20p%28B%29Max%20observed%20at%20different%20nutrient%20input%20intensities%20demonstrates%20that%20the%20daily%20inputs%20maintained%20the%20physiological%20balance%20of%20the%20microalgae.%20The%20maximal%20light%20utilization%20efficiency%20%28alpha%29%20and%20the%20light%20saturation%20parameter%20%28E%28k%29%29%20were%20also%20quite%20stable%20after%20day%208%2C%20which%20reveals%20that%20photosynthetic%20parameters%20were%20driven%20by%20growth%20constraints%20due%20to%20nutrient%20availability%20and%20not%20by%20incident%20light%20or%20species%20successions.%20We%20suggest%20that%20our%20results%20correspond%20to%20an%20%5Cu201cE%28k%29%20independent%20variation%5Cu201d%20regulation.%20We%20propose%20that%20such%20regulation%20of%20photosynthetic%20parameters%20appears%20when%20there%20are%20frequent%20nutrient%20additions%20which%20do%20not%20allow%20replete%20nutrient%20conditions%20to%20be%20reached%20but%20lead%20to%20physiological%20equilibrium.%20Thanks%20to%20our%20results%20we%20can%20understand%20how%20even%20low%20benthic%20fluxes%2C%20by%20supporting%20their%20cellular%20physiological%20status%2C%20allowed%20diatoms%20to%20dominate%20the%20phytoplankton%20community%20in%20the%20six%20enclosures.%20These%20results%20confirm%20the%20importance%20of%20daily%20benthic%20inputs%20as%20much%20as%20the%20amount%20of%20nutrient%20inputs.%20However%2C%20we%20suggest%20that%20high%20benthic%20fluxes%20have%20a%20buffering%20effect%20on%20nutrient%20availability%2C%20thereby%20limiting%20the%20consequences%20of%20short-term%20events%20which%20can%20entail%20a%20sudden%20increase%20of%20nutrient%20input%2C%20and%20are%20known%20to%20promote%20Dinophyta%20bloom%20formation.%20%28C%29%202009%20Elsevier%20Ltd.%20All%20rights%20reserved.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%22JAN%201%202010%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22English%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1016%5C%2Fj.ecss.2009.10.017%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%220272-7714%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22348HK8H3%22%2C%22NNAGDDZZ%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222020-10-28T23%3A11%3A28Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
