A thesis at LEMAR? Apply until May 17!

If you are interested in doing a thesis in our laboratory, there are many thesis opportunities open for application.

Until May 17 you can apply to many thesis offers on the UBL website. Once on the UBL website choose “apply on a subject” and find the subjects of our UMR (UMR6539) in the 4 fields (SDU-Sciences of the Universe, SDV-Life Sciences, SHS-Human and Social Sciences and ISTI-Engineering Sciences and Techniques).

Here are the proposed topics:

SDU-Sciences of the Universe (7 topics)

  • MOMOPAR: Data-driven modeling and sampling to determine the origin of particles in deep particle traps (biological carbon pump)
  • Trajectory of a Socio-Ecosystem at the Land-Sea Interface: Case of the Rade de Brest from the 18th century to the present
  • Identifying the parameters modulating Arctic mixotrophy and the consequences on C, N and Si fluxes
  • Spatial, seasonal, and longer-term variations in phytoplankton communities in Brest roadstead in relation to environmental variations
  • Arsenic and holopelagic sargassum: study of environmental factors and physiological processes related to the accumulation/release of toxic forms of arsenic by pelagic brown macroalgae of the genus Sargassum in the Atlantic Ocean
  • Behavior and toxicity of nanoplastics along the land-sea continuum: Contribution of multidimensional characterization
  • Behavior of marine invertebrates exposed to marine traffic

SDV-Life Sciences (13 topics)

  • Effects of global change scenarios on n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid accumulation and fish performance – An experimental approach
  • Ecological diversity within small pelagic fish communities in eastern rim upwelling systems and population dynamics
  • Functional role of Gabon’s coastal waters for two shark species Sphyrna lewini and Carcharhinus limbatus
  • Spatial, seasonal and longer-term variations in phytoplankton communities in Brest roadstead in relation to environmental variations
  • Impact of foundation species-related habitat complexity on community diversity and ecosystem functioning
  • Study of tropical marine bio-chemio-diversity for the emergence of new bio-inspired, eco-responsible antibacterial solutions in human and animal health
  • Studies of novel extremophilic peptidases: role in adaptation to deep environments and biotechnological interest.
  • Arsenic and holopelagic sargassum: study of environmental factors and physiological processes related to the accumulation/release of toxic forms of arsenic by pelagic brown macroalgae of the genus Sargassum from the Atlantic Ocean
