This project relies on sinking particle samples collected during the SOCLIM cruise, and will evaluate the temporal variation in the export of trace metals around Kerguelen Island in the Southern Ocean. This issue was not initially planned in the SOCLIM project which focuses on carbon. This work will provide absolutely new information to biogeochemists interested in trace metals cycles and the biological carbon pump.
