Intertidal areas spanning over 10,000 km2 along Europe's tidal coastline offer vital ecosystem services amidst the biodiversity-climate crisis. However, these habitats face fragmentation and decline, prompting the innovative concept of rewilding. Our interdisciplinary consortium of 25 partners from 11 European states, including the UK, Canada, and the USA, aims to restore these seascapes' resilience and societal benefits. REWRITE comprehensive approach addresses climate, biodiversity, and societal challenges to shape a sustainable future for European shorelines.
