The project entitled “HERITAGE: Heritability, epitranscriptome and Adaptation in the oyster Crassostrea gigas” funded by the EC2CO Initiative (ECODYN) in 2019-2020 has as main objective to characterize the role of RNA methylation in the oyster in response to exposure to microplastics or toxic microalgae (Alexandrium minutum) until the next generation. To elucidate this question, two actions are undertaken in this project:

i) Determine the influence of two distinct environmental stresses on oocyte epitranscriptomes

ii) Characterize the role of m6A-RNA during oyster development based on the role of the epitranscriptome as a major epigenetic regulator of development.
