My aim is to analyze the impacts of climate changes on relationship between hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis and the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis in juveniles of Dicentrarchus labrax. My research is based on an experiment that is already being developed, with animals exposed to these conditions: 1) Control condition (current ambient pH and temperature, 2024/25 scenario) and 2) 2100 scenario (ambient pH – 0.4 and temperature + 3°C). After exposing the animals to these conditions, we will take samples and collect target tissues to analyze these axes (HPT and HPG).
During my PhD and in my postdoctoral, I analyse the effects of anti-inflammatory drugs ibuprofen and diclofenac, detected in large quantities in the aquatic environment, in vivo and ex vivo to evaluated if these drugs act as endocrine disruptors, if they change the expression of genes related to reproduction, if they change the hormones, the drug detoxification and identify histopathological changes in Astyanax lacustris popularly known as lambari-do-rabo-amarelo, has been a brazilian native model species because it is easy to handle in the laboratory and presents short generations with numerous offspring.
