Work package 4 intends to harmonize information gathered, to involve stakeholders who are engaged on maritime activities and to understand the views of stakeholders on MSP and its potential.
This secondment with the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco seeks to engage with stakeholders a survey on their views on the use of Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) as a tool for sustainable marine management. Specifically, considering the particular management of maritime space in Fernando de Noronha, this secondment aims to survey stakeholders from this archipelago, which was selected as case study for lessons learnt. A common interview guide, developed prior and adapted during the secondment was used in all the main scheduled interviews. A snowball methodology was used to enlarge the interviewee’s pool.
Additionally, official information produced by the institutions was collected and integrated in a data base for Fernando de Noronha.
This secondment also included the participation to the PADDLE 2nd workshop « MSP in Tropical Atlantic: governance dynamics » held in Recife, on the 4th and 5th February, and the participation in a working space for the draft of the project proposal on Sustainable Development Management (SDM) of Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, Cape Verde, and the translation of the interviews layout to French for Senegal, for the coming secondments.
