Biologist oceanographer
I am a biological oceanographer interested in studying the physical mechanisms influencing biological processes in deep-sea ecosystems using a wide range of methods and techniques including active acoustics, stable isotopes, trace metals, among others. I graduated with co-badged MSc and PhD degrees from the University of Cape Town (South Africa), University of Montpellier (France) and IRD. Following my PhD, I won the WIOMSA MARG-I fellowship to conduct the first-time assessment of trace metal concentrations in micronekton of the Indian Ocean. I then completed a 2-year postdoc at the University of Washington, USA (supervisor: J. Horne), on Antarctic krill aggregation structures, distribution and predator interactions.
