Research Focus

My work examines the interactions between climate variability and marine ecosystems over interannual to decadal timescales, utilizing high-resolution biological archives, particularly hard corals and bivalves, to reconstruct past environmental conditions.

Central to my research are stable nitrogen isotope records preserved in coral skeletons and bivalve shells, which enable the investigation of two key themes:

  • The biogeochemical dynamics of the nitrogen cycle in the Eastern Pacific oxygen-deficient zones.
  • The primary drivers of coastal eutrophication, as exemplified by the Bay of Brest.

Positions Held

  • Postdoctoral Researcher – 2017-2025 – Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany – Paul Crutzen Nobel Prize Postdoctoral Fellow (2017-2019)
  • Postdoctoral Researcher – 2013-2016 – The SWIRE Institute of Marine Science, The University of Hong, Kong, Hong Kong SAR, China.

Education

  • PhD – 2012 – Paleoclimatology and Paleoceanography, Department of Environmental Sciences, Université Pierre et Marie Curie UPMC-Paris 6, Paris, France.
  • MSc – 2009 – Ecology of Littoral Ecosystems, Department of Biology, Université de La Rochelle, La Rochelle, France / Universidad de Costa Rica, San José, Costa Rica.
