I study the ecophysiology of marine fauna, focusing on the trophic variability of fish, from deep-sea mesopredators to large pelagic, benthopelagic, and coastal elasmobranchs. My research explores the physiological consequences of mercury exposure and its biomonitoring. I am specialized in isotopic analysis (carbon, nitrogen, sulfur), with a particular emphasis on developing applications of non-traditional mercury isotopes, as well as fatty acid and trace metal determinations. My current work integrates the characterization of mercury sources and in vivo physiological processes with trophic variability, behavioral patterns, and environmental parameters to better understand human impacts on coastal ecosystems through the lens of mercury contamination.
