The aim of the CABESTAN project is to remove the barriers to our knowledge of the processes and forcings that govern carbon fluxes in coastal wetlands, from the retro-littoral marsh continuum to the intertidal zone. This project will provide new scientific knowledge and answers to the question of how carbon sequestration in coastal wetlands will evolve under the impact of global climate change. To this end, nine sites located between the Arcachon Basin and the Canche estuary will be studied using a multi-site, multi-forcing comparative approach.
