During this last secondment for Arnaud Bertrand and Jérémie Habasque, in interaction with the colleagues from the University Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE) and the University Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), we performed small scale at sea survey, finalised a series of deliverables and articles, advised students and planified the future of collaborations fostered by the Project PADDLE. Specifically the activities consisted in:

  • from April 10-22, third small scale survey (fish acoustic around Fernando de Noronha, Farofa https://doi.org/10.17600/18001381) in Fernando de Noronha, one of the pilot areas of the PADDLE project, to acquire information about the abiotic and biotic characterisation of the ecosystem close to the archipelago in relation with fishing activities. This survey organized with UFRPE (Paulo Travassos) was also used to acquire data for one thesis student (Julie Salvetat) and to train two master students to acoustic techniques (Christiano Lopes, Syumara Queiros) in order to map the distribution of fishes on the base of an innovative combinason of acoustic and video data (Tasks 2.3 and 2.3) ;

  • student technical support (Julie Salvetat, PhD; Leandro Nole Eduardo, PhD, Ramilla Assunção, PhD; Nathanael Dossa, PhD) and help for processing data collected in Brazilian waters (Tasks 2.3 and 2.4);

  • Participation to the PADDLE worshop: MSP in tropical Atlantic: governance dynamics International workshop, Recife, Brazil, UFPE, Feb. 4-5, 2019

  • Finalisation of the redaction of the Deliverable 2.1 (Report on tropical Atlantic marine ecosystem dynamics in the last decades)
