This secondment allowed preparing the logistics for the second fieldwork (to be realized in April 2018): instruments and survey design preparation, team recruitment, legal authorizations. We continued the long term work on the statistical modeling of these data, aiming at segmenting the raw GPS tracks collected on fishing vessels and seabirds into different behavioural modes (travelling, searching, fishing). We trained and supervised a Brazilian student (UFAL, Leila Figueiredo and Marcio Efe) to these advanced modeling techniques in order to produce accurate data on space-use by seabirds which are crucial within a GIS for MSP. We strengthened our network of collaborations with UFAL, UFRGS and FURG.
