Biography

Jan P.M. van Tatenhove (1961) holds a PhD in Sociology (1993). He is a Personal Professor in Marine Governance at the Environmental Policy Group at Wageningen University (the Netherlands), and Professor of Ocean governance and Marine Spatial Planning at the Department of Planning, Innovative Fisheries Management of Aalborg University (Denmark). He is also Honorary Professor at the School of Planning, Architecture and Civil Engineering of Queen’s University Belfast (Northern Ireland-UK), and co-director of the International Centre for Maritime Research (MARE). His research focuses on processes of institutionalization of (innovative) marine governance arrangements, and processes of regionalization and Marine Spatial Planning.

I expect that PADDLE will give me in depth knowledge about the governance dynamics of MSP in the tropical Atlantic and will result in new networks with scientists and MSP practioners in Brazil, Senegal and Cape Verde.
