Thierry Frédou graduated his DSc in oceanography from the university of Aix-Marseille and Federal University of Pernambuco in 2004. After a post doctorate on Amazonian aquatic systems, he became lecturer at the Federal University of Pará. He is now associate professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. His research themes encompass the functional ecology of fish communities and ecosystem approach to fisheries (EAF) using natural biomarkers (stable isotopes, otolith microchemistry) and data analyses in numerical ecology. On the overall, his research aims to understand the population dynamic, the community structure and the energy flux within an ecosystem as well as to assess the anthropic impact on marine and estuarine ecosystems in tropical areas.
