Pyroxenite heterogeneities in rifting-related mantle

The main aim of this project is to unravel the origin of pyroxenitic heterogeneities occurring in exposed mantle sequences, giving special attention to pyroxenites related to crustal recycling processes. The project focuses on the rifting-related mantle sequences exposed in the External Ligurian ophiolites (Northern Apennines, Italy), which represent an ocean-continent transition. Isotope analyses (Nd, Hf, Sr) on pyroxenites whole rock and Cpx will be useful to investigate the petrogenesis and to put geochronological constraints.
