We are looking for a web development engineer to join our web team.

Terms and conditions of employment

  • Rank: “Ingénieur d'Études” in the French administration salary scale
  • Position: under the supervision of the IT department head.
  • 6 months contract
  • Full-time
  • Gross monthly salary: in accordance with “Ingénieur d'Études” grid (€ 23,000 - € 35,000 a year gross, depending on skills and experience)

About us

The European Institute for Marine Studies (IUEM) includes six laboratories whose research topics relate to the marine environment.

IUEM's IT department offers these laboratories, as well as research projects, a service consisting of building and developing websites using the Zope/Plone platform. Moreover, it hosts and maintains a link farm in the production environment.

In order to reinforce our web team, we wish to recruit a development engineer :

  • to take care of the maintenance and evolution of existing websites,
  • to develop features related to functions asked for by the users,
  • to create new websites.


In collaboration with the web developer within the IT department, we expect you to :

  • ensure good operational conditions of the websites hosted by the IT service,
  • meet user needs for the evolution of existing websites and in case of new requests,
  • consolidate ongoing development.

Job description

  • deployment of websites built using the Zope/Plone platform
  • development and integration of features related to functions asked for by the users
  • coaching of and assistance to (new) platform users
  • implementation of deployment and update procedures
  • keeping a technology watch on matters related to the Zope/Plone development platform
  • documentation of developments and deployments
  • occasionally, putting content online

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree or engineer's degree in software development
  • Excellent command of Python programming language
  • Good command of Plone CMS
  • Good knowledge of Zope
  • Comfortable working in GNU/Linux environment
  • Mastery of collaborative development tools is a plus (Git and a forge such as redmine)
  • French skills are not required. English speaking candidates are welcome to apply.
